Day 1: Reykjavik area
Keflavik Airport:

 - Reykjavik
 
Day 2: Sightseeing Reykjavik
- Tourist information center in downtown Reykjavik, you can get a lot of tour information here.
 - Downtown stroll and shopping. 66° NORTH
 - Bay front stroll (see map)
 - Restaurant: The fish company
 
Day 3: Reykjavik to Farm stay at the foot of Eyjafjallajökull
- Beautiful driving on ring road 1, take your time
 - Hveragerði geothermal park,
 - Horse farm: The Icelandic Horse Park Fákasel
 - Waterfalls along ring road 1,
 - Lodging: Country Hotel Anna
 
Day 4:Eyjafjallajökull to Hof
- Eyjafjallajökull Eruption museum
 - Skogarfoss: beautiful waterfall. Take short wall along the bank of the waterfall
 - Skogar farm museum
 - Vik: volcanic rock formation along the beach. Dyrhólaey
 - Skaftafell National Park

Day 5: Hof going towards Eastfjord
- Explore Skaftafell National Park
 - Jokusarlon glacier lagoon: take the boat tour
 - Vatnajokull Glacier (largest glacier in Iceland, snowmobile ride)
 - Explore Hofn area

Day 6: Eastfjord to Breiddalsvik
- Beautiful but winding drive
 - DJÚPIVOGUR. Beautiful area, beach, rock formation, Papey Island for puffin watching
 - Explore Breiddalsvik. Beautiful mountains. Salmon River, black beach.

Day 7: Breiddalsvik to Egilsstaðir
- Ring road 1 now leaves coastal line and turns to interior. Except for beautiful views, I don’t recall any place to visit on this section. From Egilsstaðir, I left ring road 1 to Borgarfjordur to hike for 1.5 days. But the drive was a bit treacherous. The seaside town of Borgarfjordur is a wonderful place to hike. You can watch puffin too. Minimum 2 days are needed to experience Eastfjord hiking. Álfheimar guesthouse had a gregarious host who took us hiking and fed us at his own house when I was there in Jun 2009.
 - Egilsstaðir is a larger town in the East. Explore heritage museum.

Day 8: Egilsstaðir to Akureyri
- Dettifoss waterfall, slight detour
 - Hverarond mud pool. This is an otherworldly place, a must visit!
 - Myvatn lake
 - Viti Explosion Crater (walked next to live volcanoes next to Krafla GeothermalPower Station, bubbling mud)
 - Akureyri: second largest city of Iceland, plenty to explore

Day 9: Akureyri to Hvammstangi
- Vatnsdalshólar, cluster of hills
 - Kolugljúfur gorge and waterfall
 - Borgarvirki

Day 10; Hvammstangi to Guesthouse Hvítá
- Bjarg in Midfjordur, Saga story
 - Deildartunguhver geothermal spring
 - Reykholt: home of The Prose Edda the bible of Norse mythology
 - Hraunfossar: series of waterfalls

Day 11: Guesthouse Hvítá to Snaefellsnes Peninsula
- Grundarfjörður's and Kirkjufell mountain
 - Visit SNAEFELLSJOKULL NATIONAL PARK

Day 12: Snaefellsnes Peninsula to Thingvellir
